I'm an attorney, mediator, and parenting coordinator.
As an attorney for the Department of Child Services and as a contract worker for the Resource Law Center in Franklin, Indiana--I have spent hundreds of hours in mediation will use this experience to inform my mediation practice.
I am a licensed attorney in the state of Indiana, as well as a certified and registered Civil and Domestic Relations Mediator with the state of Indiana. I also hold certifications for Parenting Coordination services.
After passing the BAR in 2019--I started as a staff attorney at the Department of Child Services (DCS) in Marion County Indiana. While my focus was predominantly in Child in Need of Services (CHINS) law--issues of child custody and parenting time were always key pillars of the case and its resolution. I stayed in my position at DCS for over two years. In that time I spent hundreds of hours in Court--whether I was representing the state in a review hearing, a fact-finding, or a Termination of Parental Rights hearing--I was always thouroghly prepared for whatever challenges would come my way.
Though my time in Court was well spent, for me the most interesting part of the DCS and CHINS process in Marion County was the mediation. I nearly every case I worked during those 2+ years, I had the priveledge of participating in a mediation before every trial. Even though the parties were often limited to about 90 minutes due to scheduling conflicts--the parties would often reach an agreement on the case--and the process could move forward toward reunification.
It is in those mediations where I learned how beneficial they could be. My preparation for the mediations was on par with my trial prep--and as a result--my practice was able to thrive as I was able to work toward the successful reunification of the families I worked with quickly and efficiently.
When I left DCS--I decided that I wanted to pursue mediation and other means to lessen the impact families feel when dealing with family courts. I am now fully certified and registered as a Domestic Relations and Civil Mediator, and Parenting Coordinator for the state of Indiana--and I am ready to expand my practice to aid as many families as possible. To meet that goal, I am currently working with a modest means mediation program in Franklin, Indiana--and plan on expanding my practice as I gain experience through helping provide mediation to those who otherwise may not be able to afford it.
